Last month I delivered a presentation on Informal Workplace Learning in Montreal. The occasion was FuturTex, the annual summit conducted by the Textiles Human Resources Council of Canada. The Textiles Human Resources Council (THRC) is an independent, non-profit, industry partnership. It was created in 1994 in recognition of the overriding importance of skills development to international competitiveness. THRC’s innovations merit consideration south of the (Canadian) border. For example, the board of directors is comprised of six chief executives drawn from a cross-section of the industry as well as six senior labour representatives. Both union and management were well represented at the FuturTex conference.
You can watch a video of my presentation (35 minutes) here. If you’re going to do that, I suggest downloading the PowerPoint (en français ici)that accompanies the talk from the same location; the camera doesn’t show them.
Okay, okay, I’ll tell you my opening joke:
“Si quelqu’un parle deux langues, il s’appelle bilange et si quelqu’un parle trois langues, il s’appelle trilange. Alors, comment-on appelle quelqu’un qui parle seulement une langue?”
“Americain.”
