Giving to the web is good karma. It pays you back. I strive to be generous with my ideas. Thousands of my articles and scores of my white papers are free for the taking so long as they are not resold.
Every community seems to have a few rotten apples. When an author inserted 30 pages from my white papers in the center of his printed eLearning book, verbatim and without attribution, I let it slide. When a company began offering programs on workflow learning that they described with direct quotes from my website, I sent them a letter but didn’t come down on them hard.
Now someone is offering unworkshops on informal learning. Be advised that I came up with the terms unworkshop and informl learning. I have used them in interstate and international commerce. (Ask your lawyer.)
Stop now. When I come upon blatent theft of my intellectual property, I will immediately post the culprit’s identity on a Hall of Shame page here to make it easy for my supporters to throw rotten tomatoes at them and shun them in the marketplace.
